Another great weekend project is making a batch of Another great weekend project is making a batch of nut butter at home. Use #peanuts #almonds #walnuts #seeds pretty much anything you like to make it. 

This batch has pan roasted peanuts and walnuts along with a small amount of #tahini and #evoo with a few #medjooldates and #seasalt 

It’s really great for snacking or on toast in the morning.

Chane ki dal ki Khichadi ~ split chickpeas (Chana Chane ki dal ki Khichadi ~ split chickpeas (Chana dal) cooked with rice and green peppers. Papa and I cooked @sakshipakshi ‘s recipe from the blog. 

While my father was visiting we cooked lauki-chane ki dal and one day when he suggested khichari, I decided to make this recipe to use chane ki dal differently. In our home khichari has always meant dhuli moong dal wali khichari. So this was new for Papa and he really enjoyed it! 

The dal was perfectly cooked. We’d washed and soaked it for the time it took to prep and cook the tadka. Instead of using basmati we used sona masoori rice. The plump grains of rice complemented the dal. There was also some #airfryer gobhi to go along with the meal and a glass of #víno

The last meal of my father’s trip here. He’s off #home now and the evening  already feels a little lacking. But it’s nice to have made these memories and to have cooked together!

Another wholesome and delicious meal made mostly b Another wholesome and delicious meal made mostly by my father who’s been visiting us here in #tucson 

Arbi ki Sabzi (taro) and Papa’s favorite peeli (yellow) dal, both made following recipes from the #blog 
This dal is one of the most common lentil mixes cooked in central and northern #india — split and husked moong and masoor cooked together with a simple but flavorful tadka. 

Our meals are incomplete without #dahi which is also #homemade and in the summers a hari chutney is almost always present. This chutney is on the blog too as well as our methods for homemade yogurt with and without an #instantpot 

While papa made the sabzi and dal, I made the chapatis and cut the cucumber ☺️

If you saw the story and were puzzling over what had been in the works: well the answer is dosa batter. A simple recipe that is pretty much standard. So much so that I in #tucson was given the same ratios from our local #indian #grocer as the one @sakshipakshi received from her mom in law! 

And where there is dosa, there has to be some sambhar and chutney.
